No, it is not. The forensic genealogy report is outside of the scope of our accreditation and results should be used for investigative purposes only.

The results are for investigative purposes only. The results are delivered to law enforcement as information to support an investigation. It is strongly recommended to support the investigation with confirmation sample testing in an ISO17025 forensic laboratory to confirm the identity of an individual.
There are several points within the process where the submitting agency can decide on how to proceed. Contact Bode to further discuss fees.
Yes. Please contact Bode for assistance or a request to have the sample removed from the databases.
Bode will remove the sample from the databases upon issuing a report or completion of ongoing monitoring in the databases.
Yes, Bode can process mixtures and perform forensic genealogy testing on them. While single source cases with complete profiles are preferred, a Bode scientist can evaluate mixtures on a case-by-case basis.
It is ideal to have at least 1 ng of DNA. More sample may be required for bones or degraded samples.
Profiles are added to these databases on a daily basis. The profiles can regularly be monitored for new links within the databases.
It is important for the investigator/ detectives to have direct contact with the genealogist in several ways.
It is important for the genealogist to know if there is case background to support a particular pathway of investigation. It is also important for the genealogist to ensure that no actions disrupt a sensitive investigation
Additionally, the genealogist may provide the investigators with information during the pathway of research that could quickly accelerate and help an investigation.
When uploading an unknown sample to the public genealogy database(s), anyone matching to those samples may see those results. However, samples can be removed from the databases to protect the investigation, if needed.
Bode will deliver reports to the submitting agency in various stages.
Extraction/ Quantification Report: If Bode is performing an extraction or quantification, this will be provided as a report under our ISO 17025 accreditation.
Forensic Genealogy Screening Report: Upon the completion of SNP testing and screening in the database, a report will be issued to the client for review. Included will be a recommendation on how to proceed with the case – including a recommendation to proceed/ not proceed with forensic genealogy investigation.
Forensic Genealogy Investigation Report: If the case moves forward with forensic genealogy investigation, a report will be issued that includes the findings from the genealogy team, as well as statements and recommendations on how the submitting agency should proceed with their investigation.
