Product Specifications

The Bode Crime Scene CollectorTM is designed to simplify the collection of DNA evidence at crime scenes. This unique collector includes barcodes for chain-of-custody processes, helps ensure evidence stability, provides protection of the evidence and the cotton tip is easily separated for automated processing of DNA.

The unique double shaft design helps prevent breaking during the collection process, yet simplifies the removal of the swab head for processing.

Evidence can be air dried or the indicating desiccant in the protective tube will dry the evidence.

The Bode Crime Scene CollectorTM can be configured into kits that provide easy to follow instructions and all the materials required for a simple collection process.

Collector Parts: cotton swab, reversible cap, protective tube, desiccant, and unique barcode labels.

Instructions for use:

Step 1: Place the collector wrapper with the visible barcode number near the evidence if photo-documentation is required. Remove barcode labels on the wrapper for identifying crime scene documents. Save additional barcode labels for the identification of evidence on the outer package.

Step 2: Tear open the wrapper and remove the collector. Hold the collector firmly as shown the picture above.

Step 3: Collect physical evidence by touching and rotating the swab in the sample. Wet or dry collection can be done with this collector. The swab can be air dried after collection.

Step 4: Firmly grip the cap with one hand and the protective tube with the other hand. Pull the protective tube way from the cap; be careful not to touch the swab.

Step 5: Carefully turn the cap around 180 degrees and insert the swab into the protective tube without touching the swab to the inside of the tube. Press the protective tube firmly onto the cap to seal.

Step 6: Insert the collector into a paper transport pouch and seal. Remove a barcode label and apply to the transport pouch for identification.

Collector Specifications:
Length of collector: 8 inches; which converts into a 5.5 inch transportation tube after collection of evidence.
Barcode numbers: 128C symbology with 2 alpha and 8 numeric digits.
Indicating Desiccant: 1 gram capsule located in the bottom of the tube/handle. The blue desiccant turns pink as it becomes saturated.
