Plant Individualization

In addition to being able to separate the identification of plant species from a mixture of plant material, The Bode Technology Group can match individual plants to a reference evidence item. The Bode Technology Group has developed a protocol that could be used for identification and differentiation between plant species known as amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP). Pre-selective amplification is performed to target a number of fragments using adapters followed by selective amplification with fluorescent labeled primers. The amplified product is then analyzed on the AB 3100 Genetic Analyzer. Resulting peak patterns are analyzed for common fragment sizes within each sample.
