Property Crimes
Bode Technology (Bode) would like to introduce a service called Bode DNA Investigator Service that has been designed to specifically address property crime cases. This service will use a DNA quantification method developed and validated at Bode that employs an internal positive control (IPC) to test for inhibition, meets all SWGDAM guidelines for quantitation, including human specificity, and is as sensitive and reliable. Several quantification methods are validated for use at Bode (e.g. Applied Biosystems Quantifiler) and can be considered as alternatives. For budgetary purposes the approximate cost per sample for this screening will not be more than $90 per sample for evidence submitted on the Bode Crime Scene Collector. For other types of swabs, the cost will be no more than $100 per sample. All prices are based on a minimum shipment of 1000 samples. Additional discounts may be applicable for high volume casework commitments.
Screened property crime casework samples that are deemed suitable for DNA testing will proceed to amplification and STR profiles will be developed. The cost for the DNA analysis using Bode validated protocols will be approximately an additional $295 per sample. Additional discounts may be applicable for high volume casework commitments. Processing samples with customized protocols can be completed for additional fees. Per the solicitation requirement that all eligible forensic DNA profiles obtained must be entered into the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) and, where applicable, uploaded to the National DNA Index System (NDIS). Bode routinely performs forensic casework sample analysis in compliance with the requirements for upload into the CODIS system and, where applicable, acceptance of DNA data in the National DNA Index System (NDIS).

Bode has performed DNA analysis on thousands of property crime samples. Based on our experience and the success rate reported by other laboratories, the expected rate of success of producing a DNA profile from a property crime sample can vary from about 24% to 40%. By using a sensitive system to determine if there is a sufficient amount of DNA in the samples the budget required to process your property crime evidence can be reduced by about 50%.
Bode is also a leader in providing forensic DNA results from evidence obtained from homicides and sexual assaults. For budgetary purposes the approximate cost of DNA analysis of evidence from these cases will not be more than $1,000 per sample. Additional discounts may be applicable for high volume casework commitments.
