Mike Cariola
CEO & President
Mr. Cariola brings more than fifteen years of industry experience to his new role as CEO & President and previously served as Chief Operating Officer of Bode. Mr. Cariola has been a key contributor in leading and transitioning Bode to be a world leader within the community.
Over the past year, Mr. Cariola has maintained responsibility for the operational leadership of Bode’s forensic operations, products, software, and consulting services as COO. This includes leading a multi-laboratory system that consists of Bode’s ISO 17025 accredited forensics facility in Virginia and ISO 17025 and AABB accredited relationship testing laboratory in Arizona. In addition to ensuring the quality and reliability of services provided to clients worldwide, Mr. Cariola has driven growth through the oversight of Bode’s federal business development efforts, active R&D programs, and software and product development.
Mr. Cariola has held a variety of progressively responsible positions with Bode, including Senior Vice President, Director of Operations. While serving as laboratory director, he was primarily involved with Bode’s forensic casework and databasing activities. During this time, Bode successfully assisted numerous crime laboratories in the elimination of backlogs and Mr. Cariola helped launch several new services and products, implementing new technologies to increase quality, efficiency and effectiveness in the laboratory. These have become the cornerstones of Bode’s international offerings and are a significant driver of company growth.
Mr. Cariola is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and the Mid-Atlantic Association of Forensic Sciences. He has also served on the advisory boards of the forensic science programs for Towson University and Virginia Commonwealth University. He holds a Master of Forensic Science degree with a concentration in forensic molecular biology from The George Washington University, and graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology.
Noel Cherowbrier
Senior Vice President, Global Sales & Marketing
Noel joined Bode Technology as Senior Vice President, Global Sales & Marketing in January 2013. He is responsible for all of Bode’s sales and marketing activities for its international and domestic interests.
Noel has over 28 years of management experience in technical sales and marketing in law enforcement industries as well as technical sectors. He has established networks of international distributors and representatives globally, as well as assisted Fortune 100 technology companies with advances in product development and technology transfers. Prior to coming to Bode Noel was Vice President, Global Sales & Marketing for T3 Motion (designers and manufacturers of electric patrol vehicles for the law enforcement and security industry) for 6 years. Noel also was Executive Director, Board Member and President of Tecan USA Ltd for 11 years, a micro and nano engineering company based in the UK and USA.
Educated in the UK, Noel completed his four year business apprenticeship with Kennedys BM Ltd part of Unilever Plc. majoring in statistics and law.
Amy Jeanguenat
Vice President, Director of Operations
Amy is also Bode’s full time, on-site FBI qualified DNA technical leader. As laboratory director, Ms. Jeanguenat manages full laboratory operations, assures adequate lab staffing and equipment, and assures timely work performance. As technical leader, she evaluates all methods used by the laboratory and proposes new or modified procedures, assists in technical problem solving of analytical methods, and provides oversight of the training, quality assurance, safety and proficiency testing programs. She has been employed at Bode since 2003, and has experience and maintains proficiency in many of the technologies available to the forensic DNA community including STRs, Y-STRs, and mini-STRs. In addition, she is qualified as an FBI DNA Auditor and ASCLD/LAB-International Technical Assessor. Ms. Jeanguenat has been a lead analyst on hundreds of challenging cases including cold cases, post-conviction work, and high-profile homicides, and has played an integral role in training other casework analysts in laboratory procedures, interpretation, and courtroom testimony. She holds a Master of Forensic Science degree in forensic molecular biology from The George Washington University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Lyman Briggs-biology from Michigan State University.
Ed Huffine
Vice President, International Development
Mr. Huffine leads Bode’s international sales and marketing efforts for the successful development of international projects at Bode. In this role, Mr. Huffine also advises and assists nations in developing or upgrading their forensic DNA systems.
Mr. Huffine has more than 22-years of experience in forensic science and human DNA identification. His forensic career began in 1990 with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to develop a DNA laboratory to assist in the identification of fatal air crash victims. From 1994 – 1999, he worked for the Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory (AFDIL) where he became the Chief of the section responsible for the identification of missing American service members. Mr. Huffine served as the Director of the Forensic Sciences Program for the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) from 1999 – 2004. From a central base of operations in Bosnia, Mr. Huffine was the architect of the commission’s Forensic Sciences Program which identified more than 15,000 individuals, and has served as a model for the development of similar systems in multiple nations throughout the world.
Mr. Huffine served as the lead DNA scientist at Bode for the identification of the missing from the World Trade Center and the Katrina Hurricane. In 2009 Bode’s international development was recognized by being awarded the Virginia Governor’s Award for Excellence in International Trade by Governor Tim Kaine and in 2010 Bode received the President’s “E” Award in recognition of its achievements in supporting export growth in the U.S. business community with special emphasis on Bode’s success in developing international projects with sensitivity and to the political and cultural realities of each nation. The President’s “E” Award is the highest honor the Federal Government can give to a U.S. company or organization for exporting or facilitating export activity.
In September 2001, Mr. Huffine received a lifetime achievement award for his contributions in the field of human identifications. Mr. Huffine holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Cameron University and a master’s in Biochemistry from University of Oklahoma.
Joseph Swider
Vice President, New Programs
Joseph Swider is the Vice President of New Programs at Bode Technology charged with bringing Bode’s capabilities to the U.S. Federal Government. Mr. Swider brings over 20 years of corporate experience to the Bode team, and has led several companies into success through his diverse technical expertise and his keen ability to form beneficial partnerships between companies, organizations, the U.S. Government, and international agencies. Mr. Swider has served as a consultant for technology based start-up companies and has managed international and domestic business development efforts for diverse clientele. Mr. Swider has directed strategic business development efforts in the fields of biopharmaceuticals, microelectronics, photonics, border security, and forensics. Since joining Bode, Mr. Swider has been integral in bringing forth diverse solutions to both international and federal clients by working closely with Bode scientists and the Executive team.
Mr. Swider was a Surface Warfare Officer for the United States Navy and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Virginia Military Institute (VMI).
Donia Slack
Vice President, Government Research and Development
Donia Slack, M.S., is the Vice President and Director of Government Research and Development at Bode Technology. She leads the company’s research and development program, overseeing a number of federally funded forensic projects pertaining to genomic analyses of human, plant, and microbial DNA and has extensive experience with program management of complex research and operational efforts serving several U.S. Government missions. Ms. Slack has over 15 years of laboratory experience and since joining Bode has provided critical leadership to long-time clients, helped manage the day-to-day operations of the R&D department and has been successful in turning ideas into realistic solutions for federal clients. Ms. Slack holds a Master of Science in Cellular and Microbial Biology from the Catholic University of America and Bachelor of Science in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Psychology from the University of Miami.
Jangbir Sangha
Vice President, Product Research and Development
Jangbir Sangha has been a product development manager for over 28 years in the in vitro diagnostics and forensic identification industries. He has regulatory knowledge, such as cGMP’s, cGLP’s required to set up and manufacture products. Mr. Sangha is experienced in taking a product from concept to manufacture under applicable regulatory environments and is experienced in unique-systems design and development in areas of expertise. Mr. Sangha has developed and launched numerous products for Bode including the Bode Buccal DNA collector and a Bode tray modified BSD 600.
Mr. Sangha has earned a B.S. from Panjab University, India, and an M.A. from the Meerut University, India. He also earned another B.S. from WLU in Waterloo, Canada. Mr. Sangha has over 20 years of experience in the product development market.
Manzar Ahmed
Vice President, Consulting and Training Services
Manzar Ahmed is a Vice-President and serves as the Director of Consulting and Training Services for Bode Technology. Mr. Ahmed brings over 13 years of management, DNA, and bio-scientific research experience to Bode’s professional consulting services. Bode’s team specializes in performing laboratory assessments to evaluate process flows, efficiencies, capacity, capabilities, quality systems, personnel, protocols, and training needs with a focus on meeting international accreditation standards. Mr. Ahmed has significant expertise in the development of international laboratories, including the training of management and qualifying analysts to international training standards.
Mr. Ahmed has also played a key role in supporting the President’s National DNA Initiative to reduce DNA backlogs across the United States. Bode’s team has been responsible for processing over one million DNA Databanking samples and Mr. Ahmed has successfully led and completed projects for multiple state, federal, and international agencies. In addition, Mr. Ahmed also has extensive hands on experience processing various DNA substrates, implementing robotic methodologies, and effectively using LIMS software for high throughput DNA processing. Mr. Ahmed received his Master of Science in Biochemistry and his Bachelor of Science in Biology from The George Washington University.
Peter Coromilas Jones
Managing Director, International Sales
Peter joined Bode Technology as Managing Director, International Sales in November of 2012.
Peter has 25 years of experience in sales, marketing and business development specializing in the establishment of distribution channels, joint ventures and subsidiaries to achieve sustainable international growth for startup technologies and new markets including among others, instrumentation & controls (textiles), oil/gas and security technologies. Peter also served on the advisory boards of startup technology companies.
Peter served as a special advisor to various governments of several countries for evaluation and procurement of defense technologies. Currently, Peter is a member of the U.S. Department of Commerce Advisory Council in Washington D.C. and formerly served on the U.S. Congressional Advisory Board.
Peter earned a BS/BA in International Business and European Languages from Auburn University. He studied at the Berlitz Language School in Zurich and has studied Mandarin, German, Turkish, Urdu, and Russian.
Peter was raised in Greece and Lebanon and is fluent in Greek, Spanish, French and English. He has resided in Pakistan, Nigeria, Israel, Turkey, Sudan, Greece, Denmark and Switzerland and has traveled to over 70 countries.
