Howard Safir Howard Safir became CEO of Bode Technology when Global Options Group, Inc. acquired Bode on February 28, 2007. Mr. Safir is also CEO of another GlobalOptions company, SafirRosetti, a premier company serving the security and investigation needs of its clients both nationally and internationally. Prior to founding SafirRosetti, Howard Safir was appointed 39th Police Commissioner of the City of New York by Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani on April 15, 1996. In his four years as Police Commissioner, he achieved a 38% reduction in major crime and reduced homicides by 44%, bringing the total number of murders in New York to 667, the lowest level in three decades. He developed and implemented Operation Condor, a creative use of personnel resources that continues to be a centerpiece of current NYPD crime reduction strategy. Mr. Safir began his law enforcement career in 1965 as a special agent assigned to the New York office of the Federal Bureau of Narcotics, a forerunner of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). He advanced through the ranks of the DEA and in 1977 was appointed Assistant Director of the DEA. Commissioner Safir also served as Chief of the Witness Security Division, U.S. Marshals Service. In 1984, he was named Associate Director for Operations, U.S. Marshals Service, a position he held until his retirement from the federal government in 1990. Commissioner Safir rejoined government service in 1994 when Mayor Giuliani asked him to serve as New York City's 29th Fire Commissioner. Mr. Safir received a B.A. in History and Political Science from Hofstra University in 1963. He attended Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, receiving certificates in the programs for Senior Managers in Government in 1988 and for National and International Security in 1989. Barry S. Watson Barry Watson is the President of the Bode Technology Group with overall responsibility for managing and providing strategic oversight for one of the nation's leading provider of forensic DNA analysis and highly advanced and proprietary DNA collection products. Mr. Watson brings thirty years of experience in performing, managing, and directing government and commercial technical services and research and development programs. Prior to joining Bode Technology, Mr. Watson founded aBear Solutions, LLC, an executive consulting firm offering expert advice in executive management, strategic planning, bid preparation, and mergers and acquisitions in the Federal Government services arena. Prior to founding aBear, Mr. Watson held management positions of increasing responsibility at Alion Science and Technology Corporation (Alion), formerly IIT Research Institute, including Chief Strategic Officer and Sector Senior Vice President. During his tenure as Sector Senior Vice President and Sector Manager for the Alion's Systems Technology Sector, he managed Alion's largest business unit with approximately 1000 employees who were geographically distributed in 37 locations throughout the United States and abroad. Mr. Watson's management activities included oversight for areas of defense operational support services, IT services, engineering solutions, environmental services, homeland security solutions, and biological, chemical, nuclear and weapons research and development. Mr. Watson’s business operations included the operation of the Riverbank Acoustical Laboratory, an Information Technology Lab, the Rapid Manufacturing Technology Center, a Space Coatings Lab, a Printed Wiring Board Testing Center, a Chemical Surety Lab, an EPA's Regional Central Research Lab, a Human Exposure & Atmospheric Sciences Laboratory, a Life Sciences and Inhalation Toxicology Laboratory, and a Wind Tunnel Laboratory. Mr. Watson earned a Master of Science degree in numerical science from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics from Western Maryland College. Philip Crowther Phil Crowther has served as the controller for Bode Technology since joining the company in May 2003 and is responsible for all of the company’s financial operations. With a background in both finance and science, Mr. Crowther brings to the company more than two decades of experience in providing fiscal management to biotechnology and science-based organizations. Before joining Bode, he spent four years as a vice president and chief financial officer for CropTech Corp. in Blacksburg, Va. He also spent more than 10 years at ViroMed Biosafety Laboratories in Camden, N.J., where he began as director of quality of assurance, rising to become the corporate treasurer and vice president for operations and finances. Mr. Crowther earned his bachelor’s degree in microbiology at the University of Rhode Island, and later received a master’s degree in microbiology from the University of Connecticut and an MBA from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Va. He began his professional career as a research assistant at The Pawtucket Memorial Hospital in Rhode Island. Randolph J. Nagy Since 2002, Randy Nagy has served as vice president for sales and marketing of The Bode Technology Group, bringing to the organization more than a dozen years of experience in marketing and sales in the DNA identification field. Before joining Bode, Mr. Nagy was vice president of biosciences at Whatman Inc. in Clifton, N.J. Previously he had been group leader of genetic identity at Promega Corp. in Madison, Wis. After working at the University of Western Ontario as a cancer researcher, he switched his focus to DNA identification when he joined Life Technologies in 1989. During his tenure at Life Technologies, Mr. Nagy gained international recognition for the introduction of innovative DNA identification products in Europe, Latin America and the United States, with experience in working with forensic laboratories to incorporate chemiluminescent detection for RFLP analysis, STR systems and DNA collection products. During his tenure at Bode, Mr. Nagy has introduced DNA identification products including the Buccal DNA Collection System and BodeElute™. The Buccal DNA Collector has become a market leader in collecting buccal samples from convicted offenders in the United States. Mr. Nagy earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry with honors standing at the University of Western Ontario.
