The recipient of this award will have increased its export and international profile while promoting the best interests of its employees and surrounding community. Therefore, the recipient will have contributed to the overall economic health and quality of life of Virginians while increasing the Commonwealth’s profile in the international export arena in a positive light

Bode Technology wins Governor’s Award for Excellence in International Trade

On October 15th, The Governor’s Award for Excellence in International Trade, in its fourth year, was presented by the Virginia Economic Development Partnership – International Trade to Bode Technology, a company located within the Commonwealth known for its commitment to international trade. The recipient of this award will have increased its exports and international profile while at the same time promoting the best interests of its employees and surrounding community. Recipients of this award are judged to have contributed to the overall economic health of the Commonwealth, to have enhanced the quality of life for its citizens and to have increased Virginia’s profile in the international export arena in a positive light. In short, recipients of this award have proven themselves as successful international businesses and serve as a great Ambassador for Virginia.
Bode Technology is an innovator in forensic science and DNA analysis. Bode employs over 100 scientists and provides advanced technology services including:
- Assisting with identifying victims in mass disasters
- Identifying missing persons
- Playing a critical role in reducing human trafficking
- DNA databanking,
- and providing expert witness testimony,
Bode is contracted by all 50 states for their services. Bode also has consulted with more than 30 countries worldwide. They have completed projects in Nairobi, Kenya to help convict offenders and reduce violence against women. They have worked in Peru to help identify victims of the Putis massacre. Additionally, they have worked on projects in Argentina, Guatemala, Mexico, Columbia and Chile.
Bode’s impact has been felt worldwide and has played an integral role in numerous headline stories such as the identification of remains from the September 11 World Trade Center disaster, Hurricane Katrina and the former Yugoslavia. They have also provided testimony before Congress on the impact of DNA testing in Latin America and their products have helped to increase the processing efficiency of crime laboratories.
